FERGUSON PARK PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY 2024

At Ferguson Park Preschool we provide an environment that is safe, inviting and stimulating. We are warm and caring, taking time to listen and be supportive to all children and their families. A service that is influenced by natural surroundings and embraces local culture.

The Preschool program recognises and caters for each child’s individual needs as well as a collaborative group through experiences that encourage them to explore, create, engage and participate. We provide challenges and opportunities to allow everyone to experience success.

Our play-based program is aimed at fostering high self-esteem, confidence and a sense of belonging. There is a strong emphasis on children’s sensitivity towards each other, on mutual respect for people in the wider community, and support for the social, cultural and religious diversity of families.

We offer learning experiences which are child initiated as well as including intentional teaching objectives. Our learning program evolves from a combination of these experiences, reflective practice and the children’s voices. Ferguson Park Pre-School is committed to protecting our environment by implementing emerging sustainable practices with the children and kindergarten community.

We acknowledge the importance of parents and staff working together as partners to promote children’s well-being, education and development, preparing the children for a positive transition to school.

At our Pre-School, we believe that learning goes beyond the kinder room and is enhanced by the connections created with respect and acknowledgment of our wider community.

Our centre acknowledges and operates within the guidelines of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework.
