To accommodate the needs in our community, Ferguson Park is providing a rotational model for our 3 year old program in 2024. This allows us to offer more places, whilst keeping group sizes smaller.

Children in our 3 year old program will attend 3 out of the 4 kindergarten sessions provided to attend a total of 15 hours per week.

Staff

 Co-Educator – Marg Rickard

Teacher – Donna Derons – Masters of Teaching, Early Childhood

Our three-year-old Possum group moved into our new Banksia Building (formerly the Hurstbridge Pre-School site) in 2023. This allows an opportunity for increased places and hours as well as a large, welcoming building and outdoor space for them to learn in. We currently offer three 5-hour sessions per week for our 3-year-old group.

As part of our enrolment policy, it states that all children must have turned three years of age, prior to the end of April in the year of commencement. It is a Department of Education and Training regulation that no child can start sessions until they are three years of age.

We currently have vacancies in our 3-year-old program.

The Program

Children learn best by being active and involved through their play. The program encourages your child to:

·         Gain confidence and independence

·         Recognise and resolve their own conflicts

·         Develop concentration through a variety of kindergarten experiences and activities. For example; stories, discussions, puzzles, playdough, pasting, block building activities, etc

·         Exercise creative abilities

·         Express thoughts, feelings and ideas

·         Develop physically by using large muscles: climbing, swinging, running, etc, and small fine muscles for co-ordination through the use of manipulative equipment.
